The Low Energy Polarized Electron Workshop ( LE98 ), organised by Saint-Petersburg State Technical University (SPTU), A.F.Ioffe Physico-Technical Institute (PTI), RAS and Sponsored by the International Committee for High-Energy Spin Physics Symposia, to be held just prior to the SPIN98 13th INTERNATIONAL SYMPOSIUM ON HIGH-ENERGY SPIN PHYSICS (Protvino, Russia). The workshop will follow an interdisciplinary approach, which has proven fruitful in past workshops. Contributions from all areas of research will be welcomed. Participants may present papers, which will then be published in the LE98 proceedings. Informal presentations and discussions will also be scheduled.

Workshop Proceedings
Contributed papers are welcomed. All accepted papers will be published in the LE98 Proceedings. The Proceedings will be mailed to all participants free of charge. Instructions for preparation of the manuscripts will be sent together with the notice of acceptance of the abstract.
GENERAL INFORMATION
Venue
The Workshop will be held at the State Education Centre of St. Petersburg. This modern conference centre has well equipped conference auditoriums for oral presentations, rooms for poster sessions, all necessary audio/visual equipment, computer visualisation interfacing, real-time translation capability, document copying facilities, etc. The Centre also has modern hotel lodging and restaurants. It is a secure and safe facility and it includes its own medical clinic. It takes about 15 minutes by Metro (U-train) to downtown.
Language
The Workshop will be conducted in English.
Climate
The weather in St. Petersburg at the beginning of September is mostly fine. The temperature is usually about 15 C. A light coat or a sweater may be needed as well as a raincoat and an umbrella.
Visas
You should present to the Organizing Committee all necessary information for visa requests for you and accompanying persons by filling the Registration Form attached. Invitations will be sent upon registration form is received.
Currency
Only roubles are officially acceptable for any payments, including SEC Hotel. So, it is necessary to change currency (US dollars preferable) in any Bank or exchange office in St. Petersburg. Most major credit cards (VISA, MASTER CARD) are accepted in many St. Petersburg banks and hotels ( in particular in hotels "Moskva" and "Oktyabrskaya"). Credit cards are also accepted in several (expensive!) restaurants and shops. AMERICAN EXPRESS credit cards are less widely accepted but there is an American Express office where travelers checks may be cashed.
REGISTRATION
The registration fee is US $100. The registration fee will cover a part of the participation in
the social program, the Proceedings, Welcome reception and transportation for the Workshop
events. The registration fee does not include accompanying persons' social program costs and
the Conference dinner (this will be arranged for separately at the Workshop). The cost of the
Conference dinner per person is US $30.
