14th Winter Workshop on Nuclear Dynamics

ANNOUNCEMENT:
14th Winter Workshop on Nuclear Dynamics
31 January - 7 February 1998
Snowbird, Utah

Following in the tradition of this long-standing series of workshops, the
meeting will be devoted to the study of nuclear dynamics. As in past workshops
the topics will cover experimental and theoretical aspects of nuclear dynamics
over a full range of subjects and energies up to the ultrarelativistic energy
regime. The specific topics to be presented and discussed will depend upon the
interests of the participants.

The workshop will be held at the Snowbird Conference Center of the Cliff Lodge
at the Snowbird Resort in Utah. If you wish to attend the workshop, please fill
out the attached form and return by fax, electronic or regular mail. After I
receive your pre-registration form, I will send you more information regarding
lodging arrangements. Since hotel reservations are due very soon, I hope that
you can send back the pre-registration form within the next three weeks.

LETTER ACCOMPANYING ANNOUNCEMENT:
                                                        Sept 20, 1997
Dear Colleague,

This is an announcement for the 14th Winter Workshop on Nuclear Dynamics. The
Workshop will be held the 31 January - 7 February 1998 at the Snowbird
Conference Center of the Cliff Lodge at the Snowbird Resort in Utah. If you are
interested, please complete the attached pre-registration form and return via
telefax, normal or electronic mail before November 1, 1997. Also, please call
this announcement to the attention of your colleagues.

The Workshop has traditionally encompassed a broad spectrum of interests in
Nuclear Dynamics ranging from low energy scattering to intermediate energy
collisions to relativistic nucleus-nucleus interactions. The interests of the
participants will determine the specific topics to be presented and discussed.
Topics of interest in the last Workshop included projectile fragmentation, deep
inelastic heavy ion reactions, multifragmentation, fluctuations, collective
nuclear flow, particle production and correlations, ultra- relativistic
collisions, dilepton production, nuclear equation of state, quark-gluon plasma
formation and other aspects of nucleus-nucleus collision dynamics.

The Workshop will be held at the Snowbird Resort which is approximately 30
miles east of Salt Lake City, Utah, in the Rockies. The Salt Lake City Airport
is serviced by several major airlines, with direct flights from the East Coast,
Mid-West and West Coast. Ground transportation from the Salt Lake City Airport
to Snowbird and back is provided for a fee of about $34. The Snowbird Resort is
a small, self-contained village with hotels, condominiums, restaurants,
delicatessen, fast-food services, lounges, comedy club, and full-service winter
sports shops. We have been able to reserve a block of modern rooms in the Cliff
Lodge for the Workshop at a special, discounted group rate of $160 per room per
night for single or double occupancy To be able to secure this rate, we must
know the final attendance by November 1, with room deposits made at that time.
(Full payment for the rooms must be made at least 30 days before arrival.) All
formal Workshop activities will be held in the Cliff Lodge. All services are
within walking distance of the Cliff Lodge.

The format of the Workshop will be similar to that used in previous workshops
of this series. The program will include from 50-60 presentations of short and
medium length over a six-day period and will be conducted in an informal manner
to encourage discussions and scientific exchange. The Workshop will commence
with a reception and registration at 6:00 PM and a dinner at 7:00 PM on
Saturday the 31st of January 1998. The scientific program will consist of ten
or eleven morning and evening sessions starting on Sunday morning, the 1st of
February and ending on Friday evening, the 6th of February. Workshop
participants are expected to attend all sessions. A Workshop registration fee
of approximately $350 per attendee will be charged to cover the proceedings, 5
dinners and banquet, reception, meeting rooms and equipment.
